Poet Lauren K. Alleyne invoked Lucille Clifton’s spirit by opening her set with the late poet’s poem, “won’t you celebrate with me.” When Lauren recited the final lines, “…come celebrate/with me that everyday/something has tried to kill me/and has failed,” a collective exhale came from the standing-room-only crowd.
