Rediscovering Creativity with an 18-Year-Old Camera

Borrowing my dad’s Nikon D40—a camera that first hit shelves in 2006—has been an adventure in patience, creativity, and growth. Inspired by the #nobadcameras movement, I’ve been exploring older gear and learning to embrace their quirks and limitations.

At first, the D40 felt frustrating. Compared to today’s tech, its capabilities seemed outdated, and there were times I was ready to give up on it and give it back to my dad. But as I leaned into the challenge, something shifted. I began to understand its rhythm, finding ways to capture images that felt just right.

This experience has reminded me that even the tools we might dismiss have the power to create something amazing. Sometimes, it’s not about the newest gear but how we use what we have.

So here’s to old cameras, fresh perspectives, and the joy of rediscovering creativity!
