I’m thrilled to share the video for my poem, “A Prayer for the Bees.”

This poem came to me while I was bathing my younger daughter, Jade Rose. Before she came into our lives, my wife and I used bee sounds to soothe our older daughter when she was a toddler (she’s now 9!). We downloaded 12-hour bee sounds and played it on an old phone as white noise for Jazmyn. We figured the sounds would also soothe Jade Rose—and it does. It’s become a part of our nighttime routine. So much so that Jade Rose, at 4, still requests it before bedtime.

In the video, I explore the vital role bees play in our world, emphasizing their significance in maintaining ecological balance. The imagery underscores the interconnectedness between humans and nature, urging viewers to reflect on our responsibility to protect these essential pollinators.
